YA Superlatives Blogfest ELEMENTS OF FICTION

How is it already day three???

Most Envy-Inducing Plot
 We Were Liars
I didn't see the end coming but when it did my mind raced to all the hints, foreshadows and I stepped back in awe.

Most Formidable World
Heir of Fire
I would seriously be terrified to live there. Is there anything or anyone their that wouldn't try to kill me? I'm not sure...
Most Wanderlust-Inducing
Broken Skies
I'm not sure why, maybe because there was lots of traveling in the story, but it made we want to travel (and seek out alien strongholds).

Loveliest Prose
Kiss of Deception
The whole book was beautifully written but the passages
from the past were particularly striking.
Most Dynamic Main Character
Kestrel for The Winner's Curse
This girl has some serious presence going on.

Most Jaw-Dropping Conclusion
We Were Liars
wins this one for me too.
Best Performance in a Supporting Role
Rowan from Heir of Fire
He's such a strong character and he added so much to the story.

Best Use of Theme
Since You've Been Gone
The entire book was an inward journey as much as it was an outward one.

  2. Yay for WE WERE LIARS and THE WINNER'S CURSE -- those fit into my categories today, too. And I'm seeing tons of love for HEIR OF FIRE. Clearly I need to start that series soon! Great choices, Sarah!

    1. All three of those seem pretty popular today. You should totally start the Throne of Glass Series!

  4. That's a great way to describe Since You've Been Gone. It wasn't my favourite read of the year but I appreciated how much Emily grew throughout the novel.

    1. It wasn't my favorite either but mainly because I read so many amazing books this year. I enjoyed the character growth a lot!

    1. Me either. It was not the sort of book I expecting it
      to be.

  7. KISS OF DECEPTION is on my TBR list for sure! And I totally agree with not wanting to live in Celaena's world...I'm pretty sure I'd hide in a cupboard the entire time because that world is SO dangerous!

    1. Yes, a cupboard with a huge padlock on it. Love the world building but there isn't much friendly about the place!

  8. I can't say enough about KISS OF DECEPTION. It was really good! And you're right, the prose was really good. Great list today, Sarah! :D

  9. I feel like I'd like to visit Celaena's world - you know, once the evil king gets taken down and all of that. Right now? Not so much.
