It's time for What's Up Wednesday!
What I'm Reading I'm not sure if other people do this but I have the bad habit of getting sidetracked and not finishing a lot of the books I start, at least not in a timely manner. I'll start reading something I find at the library and realize (days, weeks) later that I have a half finished book on my nightstand. This week I've been finishing some of those poor, neglected, half read books. I'm about 3/4 through The Great Gatsby and I'm reading Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. Both are to good to just let sit there! I'm not reading any books in my TBR challenge until these books are done so that should be motivating. I'm also working through Writing 21st Century Fiction by Donald Maas. I won it in a giveaway. Its amazing! I'm trying to spend a week on each chapter in hopes that I absorb all the information.
What I'm Writing I'm trudging away on my fairy tale inspired WIP. I love this story and I still don't know why it is so slow to write.
What Inspires Me Right Now I've been inspired by my 2014 goal. It is to live intentionally. Its amazing how having a bit of focus can change the way you approach things. I'm also inspired by Writing 21st Century Fiction. This book really gets my creativity flowing!
What Else I've Been Up To My kids have the stomach flu so that pretty much sums it up... It would be more fun to write about what I wish I was up to...
Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm amazed that you're able to write anything at all, while you homeschool 3 kids! Sorry they've had the flu. I have the same habit of having several books all going at once. I don't know why I can't stick to one and read it from start to finish. There is something about hopping about between books that works for me, so I totally get it. Good luck with the writing.
ReplyDeleteI hope your kids feel better soon so your life can get back to what you want it to be. Good luck with your writing. Have a great week, and a great new year.
ReplyDeleteI like your goal of living intentionally. My goal of doing things differently is very similar, like you said on my blog. I think it's all about just being conscious of the things we do and making changes where necessary. Here's hoping we both find success in that this year!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the children have been unwell. Hope they're all better soon :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your writing ^_^
Happy New Year!
THE GREAT GATSBY and NEVERWHERE are both great books; I enjoyed them, anyway. And you're right about how much you can get done when you focus, and minimize distractions--especially distractions that really don't matter... which seem to be the most tempting distractions. :\
ReplyDeleteI hope your kids recover soon--that can't be fun for them or you. Have a wonderful week!
My sympathy on the sick kids, i hope everyone is better soon!
ReplyDeleteI got my husband a copy of NEVERWHERE for Christmas this year, and he's reading it right now. I hope you like it, because I thought it was a fun read. Sorry to hear your kiddos have the flu. We've been lucky enough not to get sick around here this winter, which I'm very thankful for. Hope they feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI do that too--start reading things and then end up reading 18 books at once! It takes a lot of skill to be able to juggle that many stories at once.
ReplyDeleteHope the kids feel better!
Neverwhere is so good. <3 Have you heard the BBC Audio Version? Definitely worth a listen once you're done with the book.
ReplyDeleteHope the kids feel better soon and good luck with the WIP!
Oh! Fairy tail WIP! That sounds great :)
