What's Up Wednesday

Its time for What's Up Wednesday!

What I'm reading  I'm still reading the same classic and I'm still slowly working my way through "A Prayer for Owen Meany".  I keep getting distracted by YA books, like Paranormalcy by Kiersten White.  I read it in a day and I loved it!  I didn't think I was going to but the characters felt so alive to me.  I'm also reading Blood Red Road by Moira Young.  So far I love it but I'm mad at Saba for the way she treats her little sister.  I'm hoping she reforms!

What I'm writing  I'm working on my revisions for Slumber.  I finished my initial go through and am now staring at a list of "plot holes" that need plugging.  Hmmm.
I did well with my Ready. Set. Write goal of working on revisions for an hour a day.  Some of that was me staring at the a fore mentioned list of "holes" but it was still constructive.
This week my goal is the same.
What inspires me right now  I found the article Writing and Walking from WriteOnCon to be very inspiring.

What else I've been up to  I have been going through my books and filling up my new book case.  A friend gave it to me when I was least expecting it so now I have a place to put the mound of books that was sitting by my bed!  It was such an unexpected blessing.
My exercising is going well.  I have been faithful to it for three weeks now.  The stubborn "book weight"  is slow to disappear but I am feeling stronger and more energetic, so that's a good thing.
Our school curriculum for the year arrived (more books!) and I have been going through it and working on lesson ideas for the year.  I love back to school time!  My children are slightly less enthused by the huge box of school books but I'm hoping they will come around :)
What have you been up to?

  2. Up to the usual -- bottle feed kittens up to the gunnels! Not much time for other things.

    1. I have never bottle fed a kitten but I have fed bummy lambs and that was very time consuming.

  4. I also loved Paranormalcy. I think the lighthearted, fun angle made the paranormal aspects feel fresh. I never finished the series though, and would like to.

Great job on sticking to revising goals! I wrote every day last week to try that out, and it was great! But I haven't written since the weekend and now I have to get back to the routine.

    1. Yes! Lighthearted and fun are perfect words for it. It was refreshing and I get burnt out on paranormal sometimes. I hope you have a great writing week!

  5. I didn't know you participated in WriteOnCon. Cool! We'll have lots to talk about. Mike Hays is joining our group. He's from there, too. He has more experience so I'm hoping he can help with structure.

Nice site, by the way. I'm a Ninja, too, but for real. Hapkido, actually.

Good luck with the kids' new school year.

  8. I love BLOOD RED ROAD but have to agree that Saba does have a mean streak. She also loves people (including her little sister) very fiercely, which I think balances out her toughness nicely. Hope you enjoy the rest of it!

That was so sweet of your friend to give you a bookcase! I've done some book weeding and shuffling this past couple weeks and have a fairly sizable mound of books to shelve too. Isn't it crazy how they just pile up?

Have fun with your writing and with the homeschool prep!
